Somatic attachment therapy
I help people whose pasts impact their relationships with themselves and others learn to regulate their nervous system, develop healthy attachments, and feel a sense of mastery over their lives. In my clinical work, I integrate somatic and experiential attachment therapies such as Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy to support your healing. My clinical training and work have been focused on helping those who are impacted by trauma, such as survivors of sexual assault, those affected by complex or developmental trauma, and members of the LGBTQS2S+ Community. I currently offer individual outpatient therapy for those residing in Massachusetts.
I believe that therapy is a healing relationship with a foundation of curiosity, compassion, and discovery. Through our work together, I hope to help you reconnect with yourself through your body and to heal the parts of yourself that carry your pain and trauma.
I know that finding the right therapist is important when starting therapy. This is why I provide a free 15-minute consultation call so that I can answer any questions you might have and we can decide if we are a good fit for each other.
“The body always leads us home... if you can simply learn to trust sensation and stay with it long enough for it to reveal the appropriate action, movement, insight or feeling.”
Session Structure
We will meet online using the telehealth platform provided by Therapynotes for 53-55 minutes. In our initial session, we will review all the paperwork, discuss confidentiality, and take time to get to know each other. We will discuss your past and present and work towards identifying your goals for therapy. I will provide education on my approach and my background and answer any questions you may have.
In our sessions following your intake, I will greet you and offer you a space to land. I may offer a guided mindfulness experience to help you orient to our space together and help you develop a connection with yourself. You and I will work collaboratively to identify a topic or “frame” for the session. I will hold space while supporting you in accessing your thoughts, emotions, feelings, movements, and sensations to help you develop insight and to help you move toward transformation. I will then help you integrate your experience and translate our work into tangible resources to support you outside of our sessions.
I typically suggest meeting weekly for the first 12 weeks to support the development of the relational safety necessary for a healing therapeutic relationship. After the first 12 weeks, you and I will work to identify a treatment frequency (either weekly or biweekly) that aligns with your needs, your available resources, and your goals for therapy.
